Once you’ve copied one of our templates into your My Templates area, you can edit it to make any necessary changes. You have an extensive set of options available when editing our Survey Templates:
Add/Remove Questions
First, it’s important to understand that every question lives in a page. So to add a question, you add a page using the Add Page button at the bottom of the editor window. After selecting the Add Page button you are given the option of which question type you would like to add. You can also add a page using the Clone button on the top right of each page panel. Clicking Clone will duplicate the current page/question directly beneath it with all of the same information. You can then make any edits. This is particularly helpful if you have created a set of responses that you want to reuse with different questions; set one up then clone, change the question and you’re done! Each page also has a Delete button, allowing you to remove a Page (question) from the survey.
Question Types
When inserting a new page, you have the ability to decide what type of item to put on that page: Clickable Response, HTML, or Free-form input box.
- Clickable Response – this is our standard question and answer item that allows you to present the user with a question and multiple response options
- HTML – our HTML editor allows you to enter any text you like and apply formatting. This type is used simply to present copy, it does not have an associated answer
- Free-form – this type allows you to pose a question and allow users to enter any content they would like into a text box. We’ll capture and show all responses in your survey results
Edit Questions
You can easily edit the questions and responses by simply typing in the box for any item you’d like to change. AMSHub Survey automatically saves your changes. You can also use the plus icon to add another response to an existing question.
Response Triggers
For any answer option in our clickable response type, you can trigger an Action. Actions are events that you want AMSHub Survey to take when a response is selected. Current actions include:
- Notify – you can choose to have AMSHub notify a user in the system when a respondent selects a specific response. Each time a user selects the triggered response, an alert will be raised by AMSHub to the alerts panel at the top of the screen
- Skip To – this trigger will jump the respondent to the selected question. When someone chooses “not satisfied at all”, you may want to jump them ahead a few questions to gather additional feedback
- Show – if a Show trigger is activated, another future question in the survey that is hidden by default, will be made visible
- Hide – when a Hide trigger activates, another future question in the survey that is visible by default, will be made hidden
- End – When a respondent selects a response that has an End trigger, they will immediately be jumped to the thank you page, skipping all additional pages
Organizing Questions
You can drag-and-drop pages or question responses to reorganize the layout of your survey. Please note that if you have setup actions, changing the order of questions can impact those actions, in some cases deleting them. AMS Survey will automatically update actions to track the attached question, providing no organizational rules are violated. For example: if you have a Show or Hide trigger setup, and you drag the question being shown or hidden before the question with the action, the action will be deleted, because the rule can’t be applied to a question that the respondent has already passed in the survey.
