As part of your initial and ongoing facility management, you’ll maintain a list of the Providers performing procedures at your facility. This list is used in various places on the site, most importantly to assign procedures to, as well as throughout the reporting and analytics tools.
Managing your provider list starts with a few simple functions: inputting provider first and last name, selecting their specialty, setting the provider’s status to Active or Inactive, and adding any notes. Active means the provider is currently working in your facility and should be shown in drop-down menus for procedure assignment and reporting. Inactive can be used to temporarily hide providers from these lists. You can also leverage our personnel cost tracking feature for Providers just as we do for other Personnel. If you’d like to use this feature, provide one of the pay rate options provided and AMSHub will convert to a per-minute rate. When Procedures are added in AMSHub the length will be multiplied by the per-minute rate of the provider for the procedure, and added to the case cost throughout the system.
Provider Preferences
Another key feature within the Providers area is the ability to set up their preferences. Similar to common provider preference cards, we provide the ability to configure a selection of materials for each provider and for each procedure type.
When editing a provider in Settings > Provider, you will see the Provider Preferences tab. Selecting this tab will access the configuration settings where you can create a detailed list of preferences for this provider by procedure type.
First, select the procedure type you want to configure. Add any notes specific to this procedure type and then begin selecting the inventory and resources necessary to create a standard collection of information for this provider for the current procedure type. You can easily confirm the availability of the inventory in a provider’s card and you will see a summary of the quantity of each item you’ve configured as well as the current on-hand amount for that item.
Once you’ve configured a single procedure type, you can use the Copy To All button to duplicate these settings to all other procedure types. You can then make small edits to each of the other procedure types as needed. Alternatively, you can use the Copy From button when editing a procedure type, to copy the settings from another procedure type for that provider.
Once you’ve configured your providers’ preferences, you can access them easily in two key places: Procedure Add and the main Providers List in Settings. If you want to use this information to setup for a case for instance, go to either location and select the Preferences icon. Select the procedure type you want to setup for and you can view all of the pre-configured options. Alternatively, you can print these details and take the sheet with you into the room to setup for a case.
When accessing this information on the Procedure Add page, you have the ability to add some of the pre-configured materials to the new procedure with a single click. Once you add all of the information needed for a new procedure, you will see an icon next to the providers name you have selected. When you click on that icon it will bring up that provider’s preferences. When viewing the provider’s preferences for the desired procedure type, you’ll see the Apply to Procedure button. When this is clicked all of the pre-selected materials are automatically added to the new procedure record.
Sharing Providers
If your facility is part of a group, you can share providers with other facilities in your group. This can save a tremendous amount of time and create consistency across all of your locations. On the Settings > Providers page, you’ll see a share icon for each provider as well as a checkbox. You can share a single provider by clicking the share button for that provider and selecting which other facilities in your group you want to share that provider with, or you can share multiple providers simultaneously by selecting the checkbox for all providers and using the Actions button and selecting Share. Then chose the other facilities in your group the selected providers should be added to.
