Patient Education

Patient Education is another great feature in our broader Patient Engagement Suite. It’s a content management tool that allows you to build out documents to share and communicate with your patients in numerous ways. Our goal is to help replace verbal and paper-based processes in your facility with well-documented, standardized information that can be distributed via email, in-facility tablets, and more. There are also specific features that can be used on Patient Education documents.

One example of a great use of Patient Education content is with discharge instructions. You can build out multi-step content that will provide a patient with all of the necessary details about their procedure and post-operative instructions, and the built in tools will automatically capture the patient’s understanding and agreement of each step, including the ability to capture their signature! This is all stored in AMSHub, providing a full audit history of every patient encounter, along with all of the date and time-stamped events as well as their signature, if requested.

Another great way to use Patient Education documents is for educational purposes. A number of facilities create informational content used to educate their patient population about potential health issues. These documents can be easily emailed to one or hundreds of patients with a few clicks. They can also be displayed on a tablet or other computer at your facility to inform patients of any relevant information.

You will see a different selection of each of these options depending on whether you’ve filtered the current view by My Documents, or AMSHub Document Library. The Library contains our pre-built documents that can be used as a starting point and then can be customized for use at your facility. My Documents are the list of those guides you’ve chosen to customize from the Document Library.

There are nearly limitless possibilities for using the Patient Education tools to replace existing verbal or paper-based processes in your facility, as well as going far beyond to craft learning materials, educational or training documents and much more.

Sharing Patient Education Documents

If your facility is part of a group, you can share Patient Education documents with other facilities in your group. This can save a tremendous amount of time and create consistency across all of your locations. On the Patient Education > Documents> My Documents page, you’ll see a share icon for each document as well as a checkbox. You can share a single document by clicking the share button for that document and by selecting which other facilities in your group should receive the document, or you can share multiple documents simultaneously by selecting the checkbox for all patient education documents and using the Actions button and selecting Share.
